This series of collages incorporates some printing blocks used for the Lititz newspaper, circa 1960. I make prints on translucent rice paper and then cut them out and glue them onto a larger sheet of watercolor paper. Once the rough composition of printed images is in place, I start painting on and around the prints. I continue adding printed images and painting until the work is finished. The newspaper prints are quite eclectic and I enjoy the unexpected juxtapositions, such as a wrestler in a headlock next to a group of overly happy girl scouts. The paintings are 15 X 22 in. (38 X 56 cm) and need to be framed under glass.
