This series of oil paintings focuses on a landscape. Usually, I make small drawings outside or take photographs and then work from them in oil in the studio. The paintings are made on a plywood base with a low surrounding frame. I pour a layer of glue inside the frame and then spread the sand into the desired texture. Once that sets, I cover the entire piece with layers of white enamel and then paint with oil. The paintings are about 30 X 40 in. (76 X 102 cm) and have built-in wooden frames.
